Comprehensive and Collision
Comprehensive and collision coverages pay to repair or replace your car if it is damaged by an accident or if it is stolen, regardless of who is at fault. It's important to select a deductible that you are comfortable with. In the event of an accident this is the amount you will be responsible for in order to replace your vehicle up to the limit specified in your policy.
Collision
Collision coverage typically pays for damages to your auto from accidents involving other cars or objects. One of the most important decisions you'll make regarding this coverage is your deductible. It's important to choose a deductible that you will be comfortable with in the event of an accident.
Auto or car accidents are the most common type of insurance claim. As a result, auto insurance collision coverage is typically the most expensive portion of your total insurance premiums. If your car is old and worth close or less than the deductible, collision coverage may not be a good decision.
Comprehensive
This coverage typically pays for damages on covered autos that are not caused by a collision. This coverage is very important as it can protect your vehicle from a variety of damages that aren't related to a collision.
Examples:
- Animal damage
- Vandalism and theft
- Falling objects
- Storm damage such as; tornadoes, earthquakes, and hurricanes
- Water
- Flood
- Hail
- The list goes on…
Just like collision coverage, be sure you choose a deductible that you're comfortable with in the event of a comprehensive related accident.
