If so, then you’ll understand why we chose Dogwood Animal Shelter (DAS) as the second quarter recipient of our referral donations.
About Dogwood Animal Shelter
DAS began in 1976. Since then, they have taken in and cared for countless homeless dogs and cats. In 2015 alone, 600 animals entered the shelter and nearly that many were adopted again.
In addition to finding people to adopt these cherished animals, DAS also offers low cost spays, neuters, microchipping. Almost 1600 animals were sterilized at DAS last year, which saved countless unwanted litters from being born into the community.
Another service DAS provides is obedience classes and, on occasion, a pet wellness clinic. Last year, over 80 dogs and owners received basic or advanced obedience training saving those dogs from being relinquished to the shelter again for behavioral problems.
The dogs at DAS are in good hands while they’re in their temporary home. DAS partners with two local prisons in their Puppies for Parole program where prisoners can give and receive love behind bars. The dogs also make regular visits to nursing homes each week. This is one way to keep the dogs active and social while also spreading the love they give.
To provide all of these services, DAS has a $60,000 monthly budget. The fees associated with the low cost programs are not enough to cover their costs. All of the funds needed come from the thrift store, private donations and fundraisers, such as McGrath Insurance Group’s second quarter referral program.
How You Can Help
One of the easiest ways you can give back to DAS this quarter is to refer someone who needs insurance to our agency.
Each quarter, our Camdenton insurance agency chooses one organization to make donations to through our referral program. When you refer someone to McGrath Insurance Group, and your referral buys a policy, we’ll donate $10 to the organization of the quarter. It’s that easy.
Your giving doesn’t have to stop once our referral program stops. You can keep giving by donating any of your old household items, such as clothing, kitchenware and more, to the thrift shop. These will then be used to raise money for the shelter.
