Giving Back-Lake Race 2016

Have you ever been to the Lake Race at Lake of the Ozarks?

If not, you’re missing out! This high velocity powerboat event draws people from all corners of Missouri to witness demonstrations, races and take in all of the attractions. There is unlimited public viewing at Beavers at the Dam, Historic Bagnell Dam and other locations throughout the course.

Participants can also take part in the Lake Race 5K, which starts at Beaver’s at the Dam and makes a loop that turns around at Business 54 (The Strip). When runners are finished, they are met with a cash bar and a raffle.

It’s safe to say there’s something for everyone at Lake Race – including non-profits.

How McGrath Insurance Group Got Involved

Browse through our blog and you’ll see story after story of people from McGrath Insurance Group giving back to the community. This event was no different.

While we were working with the Tri County YMCA, they brought up Lake Race. Their team still needed a few volunteers and wanted to know if we had anyone in our office who would step up to the task. We did!

Amy Linton and Sammi Kimbler from our office joined the Tri County YMCA team without knowing what they’d be asked to do. All they knew is that for every volunteer the YMCA had on their team, they received a small donation. They needed 15 volunteers but were a few short. Amy and Sammi helped them round out their number to reach their goals..

At the event, Amy helped direct traffic while Sammi helped check volunteers in and out at the volunteer tent. “It was a fun time,” Amy said.

Why the Y?

Take a quick look at the Tri County YMCA website and you’ll see how much this organization offers the Ozark community. Free nutrition classes, summer day camps for youth and other fun events. With how much they’re doing to keep our community healthy, socially responsible and enjoying life, we knew we had to help when asked.

The ultimate cause at the Tri County YMCA is to strengthen the community. We couldn’t agree more with this message and are proud to have had the opportunity to do our part and give back.
