And the winner is….

We’ve got some big news that we’re so excited to share! McGrath Insurance would like to formally announce a recent win by the son of a member of our team!

Sammi Kimbler is mom to precocious Brice, a 7 year old with a lot of spunk. He’s making local headlines as the recent winner of the Mr. Dogwood pageant.

For those who aren’t familiar, the Mr. Dogwood pageant is an exciting event that takes place during Dogwood Festival weekend. The Dogwood Festival has been a treasured community tradition  for the past 66 years. Besides the pageant, Dogwood Festival events include a parade, carnival, and other family-friendly activities. There is a lot to do and see, but the pageant is a cornerstone of the festival that many look forward to.

The Mr. Dogwood pageant is open to little men in multiple different age groups. Although there are prizes in a wide variety of categories, there’s only one Mr. Dogwood that wins it all, and that was Brice! As part of the pageant, he participated in a casual wear event, then underwent an interview process with the judges. We’re proud of Brice for not letting stage fright affect him – many adults would have frozen up in a similar situation!

Although Sammi admits she doesn’t know how Brice answered questions during the interview process (it was done privately, behind closed doors), we’re thinking they must’ve liked what they heard. Brice was overjoyed by his win and is excited to embrace the duties associated with being the official Mr. Dogwood.

As part of winning the Mr. Dogwood pageant, Brice will be expected to participate in many different community events for the next year as part of his official Mr. Dogwood duties. These include ribbon cutting events for new businesses and other community grand openings. Brice’s official duties started on April 9th, so they’re putting him right to work!
