Children’s Learning Center Gets Support from 5k

Some children need a little extra support with educational and therapeutic early intervention.

The mission of the Children’s Learning Center in the Lake of the Ozarks region is to provide that early intervention to help kids grow up happy and healthy.

No one understands that need better than Patrick McGrath and his wife, Marcela. Their son Mark had some major health issues requiring extensive care. To get this care, the family reached out to the Children’s Learning Center. After receiving therapy through this organization, Mark is at home where he still receives in-home care once a week.

The Children’s Learning Center is near and dear to our hearts at McGrath Insurance Group. That’s why many of our team members took part to give back and support the center in their Summer Night GLOW 5k.

About the Children’s Learning Center

The Children’s Learning Center is a not for profit 501(c)3 organization in Missouri offering care to children up to 60 months old.

Every child is unique, which is why the services vary so widely at the Children’s Learning Center. From early intervention for delayed learning, communication, physical, and social-emotional to early education, children with and without special needs learn to play and grow together.

It’s this healthy environment, exposure to their peers, and variety of taught skills that gives children a positive start to their life.

The Summer Night GLOW 5k Was a Success

To raise money for the Children’s Learning Center, the organization holds an annual Summer Night GLOW 5k race. The goal is to dress in neon or glow in the dark gear and “light up the night” while raising money for a good cause.

This year the center held their 8th annual Summer Night GLOW 5k on June 12.

The event attracted over 350 community members. McGrath Insurance Group had a special team running the 5k, which included Amy Linton, Sammi Kimbler and her son, Tammy Mayer and her two daughters, and Patrick and Marcela McGrath and their three sons.

In all, the event raised $11,700. Although rain threatened to give participants a bath while they ran, the showers held off. One participant admired seeing a rainbow in the distance throughout the entire 5k race.
