This weekend, February 24 – 26, 2017, the Laker Theatre Co. will give you the chance to sit in the audience and watch the classic story come to life before your eyes. On stage will be Camdenton High School’s Troupe of Dedicated Theatre Practitioners.
A Show Filled With Magic, Music, and Mystique
The high school students and crew involved with this show have put in tireless hours rehearsing and creating the scenery for the show.
One of the first things you’ll notice, before an actor, or actress, ever takes the stage, is one of the four stunning backdrops. Take a look at this one that was shared by the Laker Theatre Co. on Facebook.
As soon as the show starts, you’ll be met with the classic songs you’ve come to love from Mary Poppins, such as Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and A Spoonful of Sugar. The songs are precisely what Kylee Compton who plays Mary Poppins loves about the production. Compton is a senior at CHS. She is a valuable member of the Lady Laker Softball Team, the Bel Canto Singers, and the International Baccaulaureate Theatre class. We are told her sweet spirit and beautiful voice will charm you as she portrays this iconic role.
Students have worked hard on their choreography for the group dances, memorized their lines, and rehearsed their songs. With this show, you’ll get a little bit of magic woven into the performance, too. The actor Jase Nicklas, who plays the role of Burt in the show, will fly through the air and do backflips during the play.

Mary Poppins will run this weekend only, February 24 – 26, 2017 at the RC Worthan Auditorium at Camdenton High School
February 24th and 25th will be evening shows starting at 7 p.m. The February 26th show will be a matinee show starting at 2 p.m.
