It’s a tragic story. Horses abused, neglected, and abandoned are in need of help to stay mentally and physically healthy. The mission of the Missouri Forget-Me-Not organization is to rehabilitate these horses and put them in pre-approved homes where they can live out their years comfortably, healthily, and happily.
About Missouri Forget-Me-Not
Imagine getting a phone call from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office asking for help for some horses. You arrive on scene to two young horses, a baby and a yearling that could no longer stand. They were starving and weak. That was the call that a group from the Missouri Forget-Me-Not received before loading these horses into a trailer and bringing them back to the sanctuary. The two mares were never able to recover, but the baby and yearling, through proper care and diet, turned into healthy horses.
The bills were not cheap, however. So, the board of directors filed for a 501(c)3 and started raising money to continue being able to help rescue these horses. Since getting started in 2011, the Missouri Forget-Me-Not organization has helped 189 horses, facilitated 123 adoptions, placed horses in foster homes, and have successfully received sponsorship for other horses.
There are no paid employees. There are no administrative costs. This is an entirely volunteer run organization, which means every bit of money they raise goes directly back into the helping the horses receive the care they need.
One way they do this is through fundraisers, such as the one being held at Porto Cima. We are inviting you join us in supporting the first annual Porta Cima golf tournament to help raise money for this organization while enjoying a round of golf.
Tournament Details
The Porto Cima charity golf tournament will kick off August 21, 2017. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and the shotgun start will happen promptly at 9:00 a.m.
The tournament will be a four person scramble for 18 holes. The registration is $150 per person and includes green and cart fees, driving range access, lunch, a hole-in-one contest, closest to the pin contest, longest drive (for both men and women) contest, flight winnings, mulligans, 50/50 raffles, and a silent auction.
