Ever wonder what it’s like to run through the night surrounded by glowing lights?

That’s just what a team from McGrath Insurance Group did at the 9th annual Children’s Learning Center (CLC) Summer Night GLOW 5k race on June 10, 2016.

This year, we put together a team on behalf of the McGrath Insurance Group office to participate in the race. This race in particular holds special meaning to our office.

Patrick McGrath’s son received extensive care through the CLC for the first few years of his life. Ever since, the entire McGrath Insurance Group agency has been dedicated to helping the CLC raise funds to help more families in need of their services.

The Summer Night GLOW 5k is a walk/run where participants are encouraged to “light up the night” with neon, glow sticks and glow-in-the-dark clothing. The event benefits the Step Ahead Program by promoting physical fitness in a fun atmosphere for all ages.

Our Teams

Sammi Kimbler, Tammy Mayer, Ann Howard, Amy Linton, Melissa Kupfer represented the McGrath Insurance Group office. Their children and friends were along to join in the fun.

The Festivities

We all donned our glow bracelets and necklaces do our part to light the night. Although the night air was warm, we enjoyed the festivities before, during and after the race.

Before the race began, the DJ asked for a few volunteers. Sammi and Tammy took to the stage along with over 30 other women. Soon, a dance party ensued with all of the women dancing to YMCA.

Our kids had their own fun at the event with a hula hoop contest.

To commemorate the night, we all took advantage of the glow-in-the-dark photo booth the CLC had set up.

At 8 p.m., the race kicked off and we took to the course to walk/run in support of this worthy program.

It Was a Success!

Not only was the race fun but it was also a huge success. We appreciated the opportunity to give back to the CLC after they have done so much to benefit so many families in the Ozark region, including our own.

In all, the CLC welcomed 270 finishing runners and had 362 registrants. There were also many citizens who came out to cheer everyone on.

The total amount raised was $12,059.93. This money is going to be used toward the CLC’s Inclusive Playground Equipment.
